Why I’m So Passionate About Financial Planners Niching (And Why You Should Be Too!)

Quick story:

The reason I’m so passionate about this topic is because about 2 years ago, I got a desperate email from a financial planner who was really in a tough situation….

I didn’t know him that well. I knew him OK – good guy.

And his email went something like this:

“Hey Steve, I could really use your help. I’m starting from scratch…!”

A little bit of background.

He’d just left his job and moved to a new town – here in Perth WA – still in the city but miles away from where he’d been working.

He goes on “I’ve got no List, I’ve got no Contacts, no Leads, No pipeline at all – I don’t know anyone and frankly, I don’t have much money at all either…! I need some help to get some runs on the board quickly and some clients fast. What should I do…?”

Now honestly, that’s a pretty bad place for any financial planner to be in!

New location, no contacts, no leads, no pipeline, no nothin’….

And he needs clients today! (Or at least in the next few weeks to make it work…).

So with that as a backdrop, I thought about what possible strategy’s could I give him that would make the biggest difference in the quickest possible time…?

I thought long and hard about what was the number one thing that turned things around for me in my FP business and that’s what I showed him….
